Act I

I went off on my own, to find a home in search of song.
My aim was not to replace what was gone,
But to travel long, and stumble upon something new.

What better way to survey this new land I found myself in, then to ascend the highest point?
I climbed until I stood at the summit;
Across I saw the towers of this kingdom looming into the clouds.
I felt unbound, free in power, anxious to go.
But where to? I did not yet know.

A ways away were a pair of souls, jovial and laced,
Embraced in some hollowed grace.
As I was about to leave, I saw one of them depart, while his counterpart stayed past eve.
Curious I approached, and she was lit by fire.
She offered me drink, and I obliged untired.
"Are you lost?" She wondered aloud.
"Not quite," I reply, "I just don't know where to wander.
Are you, tonight?"
We pass the flask back and forth, as she gave her answer,
"Not so tonight," she said with smile and laugh.
I asked her then of the other half.
"He is a prince gone home."
"And you?"
"On my way as well."

With that she stood and began to step,
And I was left without where to go next.
